Highlights

  • Jev answers four questions per prompt: task_kind, complexity, capability_deserved, and needs_deep_reasoning, in one request.
  • Code composes the tier: demand = 0.55*complexity + 0.45*capability plus a reasoning nudge, with a kind floor so planning and review never go cheap.
  • Budget guard: daily and monthly caps downgrade tiers automatically; each tier is a candidate chain that falls through unavailable models.
  • Fails open by default: missing key, timeout, or unknown model warns and keeps the current model; quota protection can stop submission instead.
  • One command installs it: pi install npm:pi-jev-model-router, after installing pi; a pinned git ref such as v0.8.0 is also supported.

Watch out

Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-15; it was truncated inside the commands table, so the complete command list and configuration reference were not inspected. It needs Node.js 20+ and a TypeSafe API key with access to jev-latest, and the pi host itself is a separate package.
