Repo stats from the GitHub API, cached Oct 2026.

Highlights

  • Laya answers choice, rubric-score or yes/no questions about text in one encoder pass; no tokens are generated.
  • LayaFast routes short questions to the Neural Engine and splits batches across ANE and GPU by a measured cost model.
  • On an M3 Max: 9.7 ms for one short question and 219 ms for eight 512-token questions, vs 374 ms MLX-only.
  • Without compiled ANE bodies everything runs on the GPU; missing bodies just degrade to the MLX path.
  • Apache-2.0, ports the Laya reference implementation, and credits mizorewww/laya-coreml for the ANE prototype.

Watch out

Copy reviewed against the repo README on 2026-10-15; the README states the quality suite uses synthetic labels and is a smoke test, not evidence of production accuracy or a general quality comparison with Jev, and the speed numbers are single-machine fixture medians. This is not an official Convai release.
