About this project

Byeori is a scientific knowledge system that a lab installs in its own AWS account. The original PDF of every paper is kept in S3. A Claude model running in Amazon Bedrock reads each paper's full text and writes one evidence note for it; further pages then synthesise across those notes. A search index over all the pages is rebuilt in AWS, and a question service answers from the wiki with citations. Every page records where it came from: the paper's identifiers, the hash of the stored PDF, and the model that wrote…

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Originals, extraction output, figures, and supplements live immutably in one S3 bucket outside the search index.
  • Notes follow fixed sections with author-stated limits first and at most three model-added reviewer notes.
  • Concept and overview pages are generated only from member notes, with every finding linked to its source.
  • Search is a BM25 index over notes and synthesis pages, rebuilt nightly and on demand, with catalogs excluded.

Watch out

Needs administrator-level AWS setup with Bedrock model access plus local Docker and CLI tooling, and this is a public beta. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

The request shape barely changes across surfaces; the surrounding contract does. When to call the API directly and when a gateway, a Worker binding, or a router entry earns its extra hop.
