Highlights
- 1.7B open-weights moderation classifier returning a 0-1 score per category, up to 16 categories per policy; policy and message share 2,048 tokens.
- explicit mode scores short rules written at inference time with no retraining; aegis mode uses NVIDIA Aegis 2.0's 23 categories plus a Prompt harmful score.
- Median 35 ms per short chat message on one 24 GB NVIDIA L4 with six categories (22 ms on an H100); it also runs on a laptop CPU or Apple silicon.
- 0.842 accuracy on the card's custom-policy benchmark at 22 ms per message, against 0.909 for gpt-oss-safeguard-20B at 349 ms.
- Evaluated on messages in 19 languages; self-contained with no trust_remote_code, no second download, and works offline under Apache-2.0.
Watch out
Apache-2.0 weights fine-tuned from BidirLM-1.7B-Embedding and pinned to transformers 4.57.6 at revision v1.2; the card sets inference: false, so it is a download-and-run model. The benchmark table is the card's own: the gpt-oss-safeguard timing is one request listing violated categories while PolicyLM used six, and every evaluation set except OR-Bench was also used during development.
