About this project

Production-ready patterns for building probabilistic decision workflows with TypeSafe AI Jev . jev-starter is not another Jev SDK wrapper. The official @typesafe-ai/sdk already provides a typed client. This project focuses on the layer applications still need around the model: decision contracts, policy thresholds, fallbacks, evaluation, and production examples. Jev returns structured answers that software can act on. A production application usually needs more than a model call:

Highlights

  • The engine returns only a route — auto, fallback or review — and the host application keeps every side effect, so nothing executes silently.
  • Confident negatives are not uncertainty: binary judgments support two-sided thresholds, so a low P(true) routes differently from an ambiguous result.
  • The offline harness reports Brier score, weighted ECE, risk-coverage, AURC and binary-band sweeps, and costs nothing without a key.
  • Four reference examples ship with it: support routing, an agent decision gate, an LLM judge guard and a RAG evaluator.

Watch out

The published package is at 0.1.1 and the README warns that the main branch may already contain changes intended for a later release, so pin what you install. Failure handling is strict in a way that will surface in your code: provider or API failures and malformed SDK responses reject rather than producing a DecisionOutcome, so the policy's fallback route is for low confidence, not for errors. Cost is reported as unavailable unless you supply an explicitly versioned pricing record, which keeps the harness honest but means pricing it is your job. In the RAG showcase the fixture baseline exposes only its final diagnosis and confidence, so its component metrics are omitted rather than copied from Jev, and claim extraction is a host extension point that basic mode does not implement. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Most Jev accuracy problems are state problems. What belongs in a state, what is a pre-made judgment to leave out, and why naming the slice you ask about matters more than the wording.
