Fast Compact

A Claude Code plugin whose /fc command shrinks old tool output in about a second: it keeps the start and end, saves every cut to a file Claude can read back, and an optional Jev pass picks which outputs to keep whole. No API key needed; /compact stays untouched.

Highlights

  • /fc (or /fast-compact) cuts old tool output — file reads, logs, test runs — down to its start and end.
  • Each cut is saved to a file that Claude can read back, so nothing is lost; only tool output is shrunk.
  • Optional Jev pass: the decision model picks which outputs to keep whole; without Jev nothing leaves your machine.
  • Runs in about a second rather than the minute or more a summary takes, so it can be run repeatedly.
  • Screenshot example in the repo: 747k to 191k chars, context from 40% to 12% in one run.

Watch out

README reviewed 2026-10-17; the digest truncates the README mid-sentence in the 'how much it frees' section, so the install command and Jev configuration are not shown here. The 747k-to-191k figure is the repository's own screenshot from one session, not a benchmark, and savings vary by session.
