About this project

Browser Use Olympics — a benchmark for browser-using agents, built and hosted on Almond, the home for websites made with AI. One prompt, five events, one server-side clock, a Hall of Fame. Live at (Hall of Fame: Source: olympics/.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Five events — form submit, link hunt, code relay, long-page dialog, and one that punishes pressing the obvious button — are all scored by the page.
  • Each run reseeds athlete, sport, list order, code and safe-link wording, so the shape stays fixed while a replayed script fails.
  • Almond-fastloop reads DevTools state each tick, asks Jev one choice plus two yes/no questions, and escalates once on low confidence or a blocked verdict.
  • Ranking needs a clean record chain: five events in order, no event under 300 ms, total over 3 s, and client and server clocks within 4 s.

Watch out

The clock is server-side and every event is scored by the page, but entrants declare their own model and report their own token usage, with cost computed at public API list prices, so the identity of the model behind a time is taken on trust. Almond-fastloop is the one Jev entry and its fast times lean on a planner called before the clock starts: the reported run splits roughly $0.0018 of Jev calls against about $0.10 for a single Claude planning call, and the other three entries are an interactive Codex session, Claude Cowork's inner browser and a cloud browser agent, which are different systems in different harnesses. Running the loop needs Node 22+, a Chrome instance on a debugging port, a TYPESAFE_API_KEY written to ~/.config/typesafe/env with mode 600, and the Claude Code CLI if you want the planner. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
