Abide

A CLI plus agent hooks that ask Jev one question per rule in your AGENTS.md on every edit or turn and return a probability, so a violating edit gets repaired inside the same turn. Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi.

About this project

Coding agents break your rules from the very first edit. Abide catches every one and makes your agent fix it.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Jev sees the rule and the diff but never the conversation, so the two-hundredth edit is judged the same way as the first one.
  • Verdicts are banded: 0.8 and above tells the agent to repair, 0.5 to 0.8 shows you a note the agent does not act on, below 0.5 says nothing.
  • The audit command judges existing files as if freshly written; the README reports 33 Next.js API routes in 12 seconds for about a cent.
  • Rubric-checkable rules are handed back to your linter, and the rubric ships as a committed file where every rule quotes its source line.

Watch out

The headline numbers come from the project's own replay of 93 Claude Code sessions across two repos, and the README is candid that an independent reviewer confirmed only 10 of 39 flagged edits and 11 of 15 flagged turns, so precision is not established. Changed lines go to TypeSafe under your own key with no project server in the path, and their API takes no per-request retention flag. Rules that never fire are the expected failure mode: a badly worded rule scores low on everything, which looks exactly like silence. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

A local-first desktop agent for macOS that carries work from a conversation through to a reviewable result, split into Home, Cowork and Crew. The part worth a developer's attention is Crew, where Jev suggests an assignee for a single unassigned task and you accept or ignore it.

Stanley is a CLI where you describe a code-review request in plain language and Jev routes it to one of ten bounded workflows. Each workflow is deterministic code that gathers bounded evidence and asks Jev fixed-choice questions per hunk; unmatched requests go to the Pi agent.
